Exploring Asana is a 3-hour session designed for yoga teachers and practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of alignment, touch, and embodied awareness. Guided by Alys Pardoe, director of Ashtanga Yoga Margaret River, and assisted by Maria, physiotherapist and yoga teacher from Margaret River, this session explores the core questions of contemporary practice: How do we teach yoga for each individual body? How can the practice be adapted for all stages of life, unique bodies, and even injury? And what are we truly trying to cultivate through yoga? Together, we’ll look at how every posture becomes an opportunity to balance the body and nervous system—an invitation to walk the middle path and cultivate equanimity, regardless of physical ability. Through hands-on assisting, body reading, and mindful alignment, you’ll discover how skilful touch can enhance awareness and energetic flow, while also learning how to modify postures for different body types and functional patterns. We’ll explore the purpose of asana, the pathways of the subtle body, and the ethics of physical touch, including when not to assist, cultivating sensitivity, respect, and presence in every interaction. Whether you're a teacher refining how you support your students or a practitioner wanting to understand the deeper layers of your own practice, this will be an engaging, informative, and enriching experience.
